슬픔·분노 지수 ‘83.8’ 최고 수준 달해…스트레스 장애 유발될 수 있어

세월호 침몰 사고로 전 국민이 힘든 시간을 보내고 있다. 피해자의 다수가 수학여행을 나선 학생으로 밝혀져 안타까움을 자아냈다. 사고 경위가 밝혀지고, 연이은 비보에 국민들은 안타까움을 넘어서 극도의 슬픔과 분노에 빠져있는 상황이다.
 
장형석한의원은 온라인 리서치패널을 통해 만 18~65세 성인 남녀 4,618명을 대상으로 ‘세월호 참사에서 느끼는 슬픔·분노 지수’에 대해 조사했다. 그 결과 50.2%인 2,318명이 ‘100’(최고)으로 응답했다. 뒤따라 ‘90’은 13.9%(644명), ‘80’은 11.6%(537명)로 평균 지수는 ‘83.8’로 확인됐다.
 
장형석 박사는 “세월호 침몰 참사로 정신적 충격을 받고, 잠 못 이루는 환자들이 많다. 실제로 피해를 겪은 당사자, 가족이 아니라 할지라도 사고 수습과정을 실시간 목도하면서 극도의 슬픔과 분노를 느끼고 있다. 이는 허무감, 무기력감 나아가 우울증, 스트레스 장애를 초래할 수 있다”고 말했다.
 
또한 세월호 사고 현장 생중계를 장시간 시청할 경우, 트라우마(trauma)가 될 만한 고통이 각인될 수 있다.
 
이어 장형석 박사는 “특히 정신적으로 취약한 어린이, 청소년, 노약자 등은 사고 뉴스 시청에 주의해야 한다. TV 시청을 자제하고, 규칙적인 일상을 유지하는 것이 좋다. 국가적인 차원에서는 재난 사고에 대한 적극적인 대처가 필요하고, 가정에서는 부정적인 감정에 빠지지 않도록 심리적 안정을 찾는 것이 필요한 시점이다”라고 조언했다.
